More Retirements!! The company has agreed to allow some to leave earlier than expected so on behalf of Local 5328 I would like to congratulate and wish the brothers good health!!

President's Message - November 6, 2020

Members and Retirees of Local 5328

Good evening all. 

 As we approach the start of the “transformation project”, we, unfortunately,  see some layoffs.  I’m hoping these will be reduced as the brothers start to retire.  

 As for retirements, there are four brothers that start their vacation next week on the road to retirement.   

 Congratulations and good health to, 

 Andre Vasilisin ,Joe Rulys, Neil Harris and Angelo Dortea. 

Our next membership meeting is Thursday November 12 at 5:00pm.

As most may have heard, we have had two Covid cases. The company is trying to follow public health rules, trying!! 

 It seems, though, there are different rules and regulations for different people. The ministry has been called but as usual, it doesn’t seem to go anywhere.  Our H/S committee are working extremely diligently to make sure you are safe! Great job to the H/S committee!!

Good Evening all

The committee met the company last week to try and negotiate a retirement incentive to minimize the job losses. Unfortunately, we did not get to where we wanted. 

 The company decided to end talks and planned on going through with their “Transformation Project”. The ball is in their court and we wait patiently for them to return to negotiate a retirement incentive. 

 If this happens, I will send out communication right away.

 Good evening all.

 The past week took us to places we did not think we would go! 

 We had an agenda set out by the company and at one point, we needed to deviate from that agenda  to accomplish what we set out for, a retirement incentive. We did not get there!!! 

 Grievances, job cancellations, job combinations, language changes, (that we did not entertain),  as we would not break the CBA.

Good evening all. 

 Today we had our first membership meeting since March. Thank you to those that came. 

 With COVID, we were not able to have meetings the last 5 months. One element of the membership meeting is to recognize retirements. In 2020 we have seen a few more than normal. 

 Congratulations and Thank you for your service brothers!
