Good Evening Sisters, Brothers and Retirees,

There’s not much to report this week, except that seven additional layoffs have brought our total to 37 members. Business conditions has not changed.

Just a reminder to those that are laid off: the company is only providing benefits coverage for one month after your layoff date. I’ve received the four-step grievance response regarding  the three months of continued benefits after your lay off date—and unfortunately, the company has denied it.

I spoke with our staff representative today, and he has forwarded all relevant documents to our legal department. I’ll be meeting with him again on Monday to proceed with  arbitration.

For those in the first group of layoffs, please note that your benefits will expire on April 28th. I strongly encourage everyone to take care of prescriptions, dental work, or any medical needs as soon as possible.

If you receive any prescriptions or dental services after your coverage ends, please be sure to save all receipts and a copy of your prescription, and reach out to me immediately. If arbitration goes our way, there may be a possibility for reimbursement.

In Solidarity,
