President's Message - August 28, 2022

Good evening members and retirees of USW Local 5328.

Well we have seen some issues in the plant this past week. Electrical issues have caused many work centers to go idle. This is a direct result of not spending the money to upgrade, maintain the sub stations and transformers over the last 10 or 20 years!

Rod is rolling in and Wiredraw is ramping up for next week.

Reminder of the Labour Day Parade and picnic on Monday, September 5th, 2022

NEW LOCATION!!!

Willow Cove Pavilion – Confederation Park

Free barbecue and refreshments.  All kids receive a loot bag of toys. There will be a bouncy castle, games and a scavenger hunt for 11 and 12 year olds for Tiger Cat tickets.

The parade starts at Stuart and Bay Streets at 10:30 am. Shirts will be handed out starting at 8am at Willow Grove Pavilion – Confederation Beach Park; there will be three buses to take people to the parade route, leaving the park at “9:00 am SHARP”. The buses will bring us back to the park afterwards.

COLA- there is .53 cent increase starting next pay period, Sunday. The new COLA amount will be $2.05 per straight time hour worked.  Big accumulation in just one year!!
