Looking forward to a great year for Local 5328 members and retirees.

I would like to offer condolences from the local to all those who lost a loved one over the past few weeks. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Reminder, our next Union Membership meeting is Thursday, January 9 at 6:00 pm.

Today we had our annual Christmas lunch with 5328 members, active and retired. Great time reminiscing as always!!

Under the schedule tab and I have also emailed the schedules for next week, one day, and the following week as well as vacations and as the company calls it, LOA's.  I call it a layoff.  The week of Dec 29 schedule is for January 2 and 3, 2020 for 8 hours start up at 11:00 PM Jan 1. For 12 hours, start up is 7:00 AM January 2.

A great turnout last night at our Christmas social!!  It was great seeing some new members attend and as always our retirees. Pictures are up on our website.

Congratulations to Karm Mangat on his retirement and wish him the best in his future.

Reminder, tomorrow is the Children’s Christmas party 11am at the Steelworker Centre.

Today at the Hamilton Steelworkers Area Council meeting our local recieved an award for outstanding accomplishments in occupational safety and Health.  This award was for the outstanding work Geoff Oberfrank did for the " Ontario Rubber Workers Project ".  Well done Geoff.

Members and retirees of USW Local 5328

Our new website is up and running. Please check it out. Its full of information!! A calendar with all scheduled events and membership meetings, the weekly crewing schedule, the collective agreement, seniority list and much more. 

 The company has scheduled people on specific jobs to help find better practices and increase production. John Young, Ed Bratetich and  Tyler Feruglio will be helping Cleaners, oil temper, and wire drawers for the next month. Please accept the help and the ideas for better training practices.

The website will have weekly updated information  with a calendar of all future events including our monthly membership meetings as well as the crewing schedule.  I would like to thank Brian Howe for all the work he did to update the old website, while he’s been retired!! Through and through a true union man!! Thanks Brian. I would also like to thank Mike Hnatjuk for setting up the new website!! Great job Mike and thank you!!!
