The schedule is a bit of a mess but with the recalls for next week, 14 to be exact, base jobs won’t be finalized until those postings are down on Tuesday and all the recalls are put into base jobs.

Great news!! Recalls!! There are 10 people being recalled for next week. The following week, the company expects 25-30 more.  

 Jobs are now posted for those being recalled and those in the plant. As people are recalled, you will have the opportunity to apply for jobs you were previously on, if they crew up. Remember, if you apply for a posting and are awarded, you cannot apply for another posting that has a lower job class for 6 months. You can apply up any time.

Good evening all. 

 The SUB has been approved! 

 As I mentioned in previous emails, for every FULL week you have worked after 18 months of service, will qualify you for 1 credit of SUB to a maximum of 52 credits. 

 How this will work is, once you receive a payment from EI or CERB, take a screen shot or if you can email that info as well as the exact weeks you were paid for.

 Good evening all. 

 The schedule is posted.  We tried to keep as many people as possible.  

 I’m sorry to say, this is one of the worse cut backs I have ever seen! We can thanks Covid for this!! We will be left with about 61 people in the plant and 94 laid off. The company feels it should be short lived for the most part. They feel that furnace, bundle and Wiredrawing should ramp up a bit in the next few weeks. That comes from sales to management to union. So let’s hope they are correct.

There is a lot of questions regarding the SUB pay. I have inquired from our USW staff and National office.  

 When applying for EI, after March 15,2020, you are directed to the CERB program automatically.  The CERB disqualifies you from earning the SUB pay.

 Why? The Federal government doesn’t consider the unemployment situation due to economy or a market situation, they consider it due to Covid-19 and apparently that changes the definition.

Great news!! 

 We recalled 3 people for Bundle and utilities. 

 There will be pedestrian walkway painting next week that added two people and bundle was increased by one per shift.

Good news! 

Next week stays status quo!! No layoffs!! 

 As far as Covid-19 related, we continue to meet Isabel and Nadia daily on any issues. The company has received the new thermometers. The procedure now is, if you test high temperature, you are to pull over, wait 10 minutes out of your vehicle or in your vehicle with heat off. They believe the heat on in your vehicle are giving false readings.

Hi all. 

 We are facing some challenging times and I’m sure most of you have heard, it so I won’t sugarcoat anything! 

 We dealt with some serious cut backs today  in oil temper, bundle,  #2 cleaning line and shipping/Rod and bar. Wire draw is running pretty much full out for the time being. 

 Unfortunately I don’t have a schedule as the company would not send it until they contacted those being laid off.
